These window treatments were reproduced for Fonthill Castle. Built between 1908 - 1912, Fonthill Castle was the home of Henry Chapman Mercer (1856 - 1930). Archaeologist, anthropologist, ceramist, scholar, and antiquarian, Mercer hand-crafted his castle from concrete. Fonthill served as Mercer's home and as a showplace for his collection of tiles, prints, and other artifacts. During his lifetime, Mercer decided that his home should be a museum and he wanted tours to continue after his passing. Mercer also considered the way he decorated his home to be a composition, so he didn't want anything rearranged. Fortunately his home has been preserved and tours continue today.
