A Very Unique Hutch
The burgundy in the existing tile defined the accent color. We wanted a hutch but were restricted by available space to a 36" width. The hutch also had to accommodate recycling bins. It was a challenge to find the right piece. By chance, the TV was left on the National Geographic Channel and a show called "Abandoned" started playing. They were filming an episode at the Pabst Brewery in Wisconsin. Jay Chaikin and his team visit buildings that have been abandoned for some time looking for objects to reclaim and re-purpose. They found a Doctor's Instrument Cabinet in the infirmary at the brewery. The piece was vintage mid century modern and Jay decided to update it with burgundy paint. We began tracking down the piece to see if it was still available. It turns out that Jay's business; Reclaimed Relics is right here in Pennsylvania. The cabinet was still available and met all of our size requirements. Some things are just meant to be!
